If you're looking for one of the most peaceful beaches in Seagrove Beach, Deer Lake State Park is hard to beat. Tucked just off Scenic Highway 30A, this protected coastal preserve is known for its pristine white sand, rare coastal dune lake and one of the most scenic beach walks along 30A. It's the perfect place to escape the crowds and experience the natural beauty of the Emerald Coast.
What to expect during your visit to Deer Lake
The boardwalk to the beach winds through protected dunes and native coastal landscapes before opening up to a wide stretch of sugar white sand and emerald Gulf water. The walk takes about 10 minutes at a leisurely pace and is well worth it for one of the most peaceful beaches on 30A.
Deer Lake State Park is named for the rare coastal dune lake it protects, one of only a handful found around the world. Along the boardwalk, interpretive signs share information about the area's unique ecosystem, native plants and local wildlife, making it just as interesting as it is beautiful.
Once you reach the beach, you'll find plenty of room to spread out, even during the busier seasons. The park also offers clean restrooms, an outdoor rinse station and a covered picnic pavilion near the parking area, making it easy to spend a relaxing morning or afternoon by the water.
Good to know before you head out
Admission is just $3 per vehicle, making Deer Lake State Park one of the best values on 30A. Payment is made at the self-service entrance kiosk, and we recommend arriving early since parking fills up quickly during peak season.
If you're bringing chairs, umbrellas or a cooler, a beach wagon will make the walk along the boardwalk much easier. After your visit, continue your day with lunch, shopping or a sweet treat in nearby Seaside, WaterColor or Grayton Beach.
