Blue Mountain Beach Creamery

Ice cream after a beach day is basically a rule around here, and Blue Mountain Beach Creamery is where we send our guests when the sun goes down and everyone's still salty. It's a little walk-up window right on the corner in Blue Mountain Beach, and the scoops are homemade and huge.

What to expect at the walk-up window

You order outside at the window, so plan on a short wait while you scan the flavor board. The line looks intimidating on a July evening but it moves fast, and the staff are genuinely good at helping indecisive kids land on something.

Everything is made on site: ice cream, hard-pack yogurt and sorbet, plus waffle cones baked fresh daily. We think the cone is the move. The yogurt flavors rotate and get a cult following, and there are dairy-free sorbets if someone in your group needs them. Scoops run generous, so size down if you're ordering for little ones.

Good to know before you swing by

There's a parking lot around the shop plus street parking nearby, which makes this an easier stop than trying to park in Seaside. Outdoor picnic tables sit in both sun and shade, and there's a wall where kids can scribble with markers while the adults finish their cones.

Behind the Creamery is The Shake Shop, and we love that it opens early. Lucky Goat coffee, Charlie's Donuts, Bill's Lemonade, milkshakes, frozen custard and sno cones all live back there, so this same corner works for a morning coffee run and an after-dinner treat. It sits right on the Timpoochee Trail, which makes it a natural turnaround point if you're out on bikes.

Insider Tips

  • We always spring for the fresh waffle cone. They bake them daily and you can smell it at the window.
  • The line looks long in the evening but moves quickly. We send one person to order while someone else claims a picnic table.
  • Ask what yogurt flavors are on the board. Key lime and margarita are our favorites and they sell out.
  • Scoops are bigger than you expect, so we order the smaller size for kids and share the rest.
  • The Shake Shop behind the Creamery opens early for Lucky Goat coffee and Charlie's Donuts. It's our go-to breakfast detour before the beach.
  • Dairy-free sorbets are on the menu year round. Lemon is a solid pick on a hot afternoon.
  • We like riding here on the Timpoochee Trail instead of driving in summer. Parking is easier than most 30A stops, but bikes are easier still.
  • Kids can write on the marker wall out back, which buys you a few extra minutes to finish your cone.
