Some nights you just want a good glass of wine and somewhere comfortable to sit after a long day on the sand. That's when we point our guests toward Obscure Wine Company at 30Avenue in Inlet Beach, and they usually come back with a bottle for the rental too.
What to expect over a glass at Obscure
Sommelier Wellie Liao built this list around small producers farming biodynamically, organically or sustainably, with a real focus on women and BIPOC winemakers. The whole idea is pouring grapes and regions you'd normally walk past because the label looks intimidating.
So come with an open mind and let the staff steer. Tell them what you usually drink, what you're eating and roughly what you want to spend. We've never had them miss.
Food stays in small-bite territory: artisan meats and cheeses, charcuterie boards, hummus and Calvisius caviar. It's the right amount of food for a pre-dinner glass or a slow late-night stop.
Good to know before you go
It's a wine shoppe and a bar in the same room, so you can drink here and grab bottles to take back to the house. Ask about the take-home price on full bottles before you leave.
Seating splits between the bar and lounge-style couches, and we'd grab a couch if you want to linger. They also run events like Prosecco Pong and live music nights, so it's worth checking what's on the calendar before you head over.
Insider Tips
- Tell the staff what you usually drink and hand them the wheel. We've had our best pours here by letting them pick something we couldn't pronounce.
- Ask about buying a full bottle to take back to your rental. The to-go price is a nice break compared to drinking it by the glass.
- We like the couches over the bar seats when we're settling in for more than one glass. Grab them early on busy nights.
- Order the caviar with a bubbly pour if you're marking a birthday or anniversary. It's the easiest way to make a low-key night feel like an occasion.
- Check their events calendar before you come. Prosecco Pong nights and live music turn a quiet glass into a whole evening.
- We treat it as a great pre-dinner stop since it's steps from the rest of the 30Avenue shops and restaurants in Inlet Beach.
