A frozen banana dipped in warm chocolate is exactly what we want after a hot afternoon on the sand, and Nigels Bananas is where we go for it in Seaside. It's a fast, easy treat that keeps everybody happy on the walk back from the beach.
What to expect when you order your banana
You pick your banana, they dip it in chocolate right in front of you, then roll it in whatever toppings you point at. The s'mores version is our favorite for the crunch, and straight chocolate with sprinkles never misses with kids.
They're bigger than they look, so we usually split one between two people. There's frozen cheesecake too, and the caramel and coconut version is worth ordering if you want something other than a banana. They keep cold drinks and coffee on hand as well.
Good to know before you swing by
This is a small grab-and-go spot with no indoor seating, so plan on eating outside. Quincy Circle has shade and outdoor seating close by, which makes it easy to sit down with your dessert instead of eating it on the move.
A line usually builds in the evenings, but it moves quickly. We like grabbing dessert here after dinner in Seaside and walking it over toward the amphitheater lawn.
Insider Tips
- We split one between two people every time. They're bigger than they look once the toppings go on.
- Order the s'mores banana if you want texture. The crunch is the best part of the whole menu.
- The chocolate goes on warm over a frozen banana, so give it a few seconds to set before your first bite or it'll be rock hard.
- We go after dinner and carry ours to the Seaside amphitheater lawn since there's no indoor seating here.
- Evening lines look long but move fast, so we never bother trying to time our visit around them.
- Not a banana person? We'd get the frozen cheesecake with caramel and coconut instead.
