On January 24, 2023 the Walton County Board of County Commissioners approved a new Short-term Vacation Rental Ordinance. The Walton County Short Term Vacation Ordinance has essentially created an entirely new regulatory program for 30A owners and managers. Property owners on 30A need to be aware of this and fully understand its impact.
Our team here at 30A Escapes has been monitoring the progress of this ordinance since it was first floated as an idea a couple years ago. When it was officially passed in early 2023, we immediately activated our plan to ensure all of our 30A homeowners are fully protected from financial penalties. We`ve been working hard to make sure all our 30A vacation rentals comply with the Walton County Short Term Vacation Rental Ordinance safety, parking, occupancy, and other standards. Phase One, Education: Reaching out to all of our 30A homeowners and... 1. Making them aware of the new ordinance and what it means. 2. Communicating our plan of attack to ensure they are protected and don`t have to stress. 3. We answer any questions they may have and listen to feedback. We then craft a customized plan to bring their unique asset into compliance.
Phase Two, Take Action: Our team has been briefed and are all on the same page in regards to how we ensure all of the properties we manage are good-to-go. Some of those things include but are not limited to; signage removal / installation, door lock updates, property floor plans, emergency exit documentation, and much more.
Phase Three, Registration: Finally, we walk each of our properties through the Walton County Short Term Rental Certification registration process.
