Coronavirus Information in Regards to 30A / South Walton Travel

*** SCROLL down for the latest 30A Area Coronavirus UPDATES ***

The 30A Escapes Team is closely monitoring the status of COVID-19 in Florida, more commonly known as Coronavirus.  A couple of the ways in which we’re monitoring COVID-19 are via the Florida Department of Health, and the Center for Disease Control.  In addition, we’re working with local officials to stay up to date on the most current information and how it affects 30A / South Walton.

Our team is taking many preventative measures to mitigate the chance of spreading any such virus. These measures include but are not limited to:

– Wiping down all electronics, drawer pulls, door knobs, handles etc.

-Washing hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

-Using hospital-grade hand sanitizer.

-Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth, as well as shaking hands.

-Advising all employees who display any symptoms of the flu or a cold to seek medical assistance and avoid the workplace.

-Our housekeeping policy includes sanitizing measures provided by the American Chemistry Council’s guidelines for cleaning in commercial settings list in between guest stays.   In addition, we launched a new "CLEAN Escape" initiative that takes our cleaning and safety to the next level.

The safety of our guests, owners, and employees is now and always our highest priority.

We’ll continue to monitor this unprecedented moment in time closely as it relates to South Walton / 30A FL and make adjustments as needed.  In addition, we will continue to update this page over the coming days so feel free to check back.

Thank you all for your time and we hope to have you stay with us on 30A.

Best Regards,

30A Escapes Team

Update 5/15/2020 -  Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference today in which he announced gyms can re-open in Florida.  In his initial statements the Governor did not address the short-term rental ban.  However, a reporter asked him about the vacation rental ban and he said the following...

“For the vacation short-term rentals… What we’re doing is telling Counties if you want short term rentals, you request it to be authorized through the State and provide your safety plan.  If you tell me you’re going to rent them out to people from New York City, I’m probably not going to approve that, OK?  If you’re saying that, you know you’re going to rent it out to people in other parts of Florida or something that could be manageable… If there's ways in that clearly you have an eye for safety then I’m fine.  I’m also mindful of the fact that this epidemic, and I said this from the beginning, was not something that was affecting the State in an even way.  You had different parts (of Florida) that were more significantly affected.  Parts of the Panhandle have been incredibly lightly affected.  So they want to be able to do some of these things.  So, it’s going to be done on a case by case basis but I am giving them (Counties) the option of submitting a plan, but the plan has got to include you know… How are you going to approach this?  What are the safety precautions going to be?  Some of them have been upset because we never shut down hotels in Florida.  The thing is I have National Guard members I have to put up.  I’ve got other people I have to put up.  So we needed to have an ability to have hotels. So it’s a little bit of a different situation.”

Update 4/8/2020 – Rosemary Beach POA Team provided the following update via email…

Earlier today, in a unanimous action via email (as provided in the Bylaws), the Board of Directors extended the closure of the beach and all pools, to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19. The closure applies to all owners and guests, and will now extend through Thursday, April 30, 2020.
This action is based, in large part, on the following information:

  1. That it conforms with and supports state and local emergency directives relating to COVID-19, including Executive Orders from the Governor and the closure of all beaches by Walton County.
  2. That it supports recommendations by experts regarding the potential benefits to the health, safety and welfare of our owners, their guests, and the general public, by encouraging all persons to maintain proper social distancing and to comply with various orders for many persons to “stay at home”.
  3. That it supports efforts to “flatten the curve” to avoid the overburdening of the limited health care facilities in Walton County and the surrounding areas, as infections are projected by experts to peak in the coming weeks.
  4. That by taking this action, safely reopening our pools and beaches will potentially happen sooner than if we did not take this action.
We will continue to monitor this situation and will take additional measures as necessary to protect our community.

We also want to thank all the owners that have offered their comments, concerns, suggestions, and support during this time.

Best regards,

The POA Team
